The Aran Valley has over 30 villages spread between the Upper Aran and the Lower Aran. Stone-and-slate villages with Romanesque churches, cobbled streets and a mountain setting that changes with altitude and orientation. Staying in an Aran Valley village is the alternative to the ski resort: lower prices, authentic atmosphere and access to Baqueira Beret in a few minutes.

Upper Aran villages (near Baqueira)

Salardú

Main town of the Naut Aran municipality, 4 km from Baqueira Beret. The village with the most services in the Upper Aran: main square with fountain, restaurants, shops and pharmacy. Tredòs

Arties

A stone village 7 km from Baqueira. Banhs d'Arties thermal baths, the Parador, Casa Irene and two medieval churches (Santa María and San Juan). The Montardo peak (2,833 m) frames the skyline. Bagergue

Unha

Gessa

Garós

The first village of the Upper Aran, on the right bank of the Garonne. 7 km from Vielha and 10 km from Baqueira. Romanesque church of Sant Julià (12th century), Early Christian archaeological site and the Camin Reiau trail crossing the village. Browse our apartment rental in Garós.

Casarilh

Village or ski resort?

Staying in an Aran Valley village rather than at Baqueira Beret has clear advantages: lower rental prices, authentic mountain atmosphere, local gastronomy and village services (supermarkets, pharmacies, restaurants). Baqueira is between 3 and 15 minutes by car from any of these villages.
