Main square and heritage

The Plaza Mayor of Salardú, with its fountain and restaurants, is the centre of village life. The church of Sant Andreu (12th-13th centuries) combines Romanesque and Gothic elements. Inside, it preserves murals in excellent condition and the Cristo de Salardú, a Romanesque carving of great heritage value. The square bell tower and the medieval porch complete the ensemble. The ruins of Salardú Castle recall the feudal past of the valley.

Nature and peaks

Salardú is surrounded by peaks above 2,600 metres: the Montardo, the Barlonguéra and the Baciver. Mountain lakes, forests and trails in every direction. Access to the Colomèrs Cirque and Aigüestortes National Park is just a few kilometres away.

Gastronomy

Restaurants around the Plaza Mayor serve Aranese cuisine: olla aranesa, grilled meats, local cheeses. The neighbouring village of Arties (2 km away, with the Parador, Casa Irene and thermal baths) extends the dining options.
