At Alma de Nieve, we’ll tell you all about it.
Pla de Beret: from mushing to cross-country skiing
This place, whose name means “plain”, is a relatively flat area in the middle of the mountains, which is why it is used as a ski area. Its size and altitude make it perfect for skiing across its different slopes, including green, red, and blue runs. In Pla de Beret you can enjoy many activities or simply admire the surrounding natural environment. Lush vegetation and the Garona and Noguera Pallaresa rivers frame the area.
The activities available include:
Sleds
Also known as mushing, this activity consists of a sled ride pulled by Nordic dogs. The route is between 3 and 10 kilometres long and can also be done with horses instead of dogs.
Cross-country skiing
Pla de Beret has a large 7-kilometre track for cross-country skiing. In fact, major competitions are held here, such as the Marxa Beret, which has over 40 editions and brings together around 1,000 skiers from all over Europe.
Snowshoeing
Snowshoes can be rented at the ski resort, and guided tours are also available, allowing visitors to explore the landscape in detail.
Snowmobiles
Guided snowmobile tours are organised and can be rented at the Baqueira resort.
Finally, cycling is also worth mentioning. Pla de Beret is a passing point, and even a stage finish, for both the Tour de France and the Vuelta a España.
